Notes: Paisley Webster is my Hunger Games OC. Paisley is from District 8 and is the victor of the 65th Hunger Games.

[Hood] “If I had to guess,” said Arachne, running her fingers over the soft lining of the hooded jacket, “it’s going to get cold in there.”

[Buzz] It’s a relief to feel the electric razor buzz through her overgrown hair.

[Wish] “Nobody should wish for this.”

[Seasons] “I think you’re a warm autumn,” said Arachne, as though this meant anything to Paisley.

[Threat] “Now they think you’re a threat.”

[Portrait] Of course they used a photo of her with her hair extensions for the victor portrait hanging over the plaza.

[Loud] The cannon blast is almost deafening in the otherwise silent arena.

[Energy] Paisley turns the crank on the generator and the machine starts to hum.

[Purge] Paisley and Dimity are the only District 8 victors who survive the purge.

[Mouse] It looks like a normal mouse, not a muttatio, but Paisley doesn’t wait to find out if it has hypodermic needles for teeth or whatever horror the Gamemakers thought up.

[Attic] Paisley hates the dark and airless room but it’s a good place to hide her diaries.

[Second-Rate] Paisley runs her fingers over the fabric and says, “It’s not bad for a knock-off.”

[Dash] Paisley bolted from her pedestal with a plan to get as far away from the other tributes as possible as fast as she could.

[Attitude] “Don’t give me that, Paisley,” said Arachne.

[Wisdom] “Dimity knows what she’s talking about.”

[Sight] She wiped grit from her eyes and blinked against the sudden glare of blinding light.

[Address] “How’s life up there in the Clear?”

[Minute] “You have to stand on your pedestal for a full minute before the gong sounds.”

[Cotton] Natural fabrics are a luxury in 8.

[Claw] Paisley claws at the sheets and wakes up screaming.

[Limit] “They don’t show you everything, Penny.”

[Unique] “You have to make them see why they want to sponsor you.”

[Gravity] The warehouse collapses with Penny inside.

[Yesterday] Aelia reached into the glass ball and -

[Jungle] Last year's arena was a rainforest but this year, it's a concrete jungle.

[Garden] There’s enough room on the balcony to grow some herbs.

[Question] “Do you promise?” asked Penelope.

[Text] “Don’t put anything in writing.”

[Plastic] The air smells like burnt plastic.

[Block] Paisley threw her arms up to protect her face.

[Escort] Aelia is the face of everything Paisley hates.

[Insult] “Where I come from, we don’t kiss Capitol ass.”

[Blood] Paisley blinks blood out of her eyes.

[Gold] The dress was the warm gold of honey in sunlight.

[Spot] “I knew you I would find you here.”

[Melt] Molten plastic sticks to the skin.

[Guilt] “Tartan told me.”

[Duel] Paisley knew she wouldn’t survive a hand-to-hand fight with Pearl.

[Stranger] Penny barely recognizes Paisley any more.

[Wait] The seconds tick past in silence… and then Tartan's pedestal explodes.

[Glow] The lights are on in Penny’s apartment.

[Action] Paisley remembers thinking, This will give them something exciting to show on TV.

[Chain] “And then they do another District Games and then we do another Capitol Games - on and on forever?”

[Bitter] The iodine is the only thing keeping Paisley alive but it tastes like biting a coin.

[Lock] Paisley checks the locks every night before bed.

[Order] “That wasn’t a suggestion, Webster.”

[Friends] Whatever they are to each other, Penny is still the most important person in Paisley's life.

[Prison] That’s when it hits Paisley that she’ll never escape the arena, not really.

[Journal] Penny burned all of Paisley’s journals the night she was crowned victor of the 65th Hunger Games.

[Zero] “Yeah, but only because they can’t give me a zero.”
