Theme set: Beta
Rating: PG-13

#02 - Obscure: She loves her notoriety, the fear that her title inspires; it must be a dreadfully dreary thing for the average creature to crawl about in obscurity, never being seen or known.

#03 - Skeleton: Missy has left any number of corpses and bleached skeletons in her wake, over her multiple lives; she's long since lost track of her death toll.

#04 - Nurse: On occasion, Missy fantasizes about nursing the Doctor back to health after a bad regeneration; she relishes the thought of him not fully trusting her, while having no other choice but to trust her, when he's in that fragile condition.

#05 - Domino: If she wanted to, she could tear entire civilizations apart, like toppling a stack of dominoes; but that would make the Doctor all the more anxious to stand in her way, and she likes to sometimes avoid that.

#06 - Thaw: She always thought she was too cold to try her hand at goodness, and cast aside her evil ways; but, the more practice she gets in under the Doctor's guidance, the more she feels herself thawing to the notion.

#07 - Waves: It comes and goes in waves, the push Missy feels to try to be a decent person; it's so easy, so fun, to be evil; but it'd be nice to have the Doctor not be ashamed of their close association, for a change.

#08 - Burglar: She feels no qualms about killing her past self, even if it technically qualifies as suicide; he snuck back in, and onto her conscience, like a burglar, out to steal the progress that she's tried, for the Doctor's sake, to make.

#09 - Frame: One thing is reassuring about being imprisoned in the Vault, if anything about it could be said to bring comfort, that being that, while here, Missy knows she'll never be framed for things she hasn't done; she remembers one of her past lives, a particular favorite of all of her forms, being falsely accused of reactivating Gallifrey's Death Zone; that's an insult that, even ages and shapes later, still rankles.

#10 - Carpet: Missy's glad that Gallifrey is tucked away in that little pocket universe that brought the Time War to an abrupt end; home sweet home is all very well and good, unless one's being called on the carpet for their misdeeds.

#11 - Insect: It feels good, satisfying, to give Davros a poke; he might be evil, too, but he and his Daleks are less than insects, as far as she's concerned.

#12 - Mentor: Missy isn't surprised that the Doctor has taken another human under his wing, after losing precious Clara; she's known him to act as protector and mentor to many of them, over the years, so Bill is just another in an unending line.

#13 - Spirit: Missy's grateful that she's possessed of inner strength; seeing the affectionate way the Doctor looks at the humans he travels with would, otherwise, be enough to break her spirit.

#14 - Wax: Sometimes, Missy wonders what it'd be like, to do as the Doctor does, and adopt a pet human; it might be fun to take one, and mold them like wax, into what she'd prefer them to be; but she suspects that, in the end, she'd probably just get bored and kill them.

#15 - Trash: Though she doesn't show it, she's disgusted at the way that the Daleks dispose of their own kind like so much trash; she doesn't pity the ones that are suffering in this tunnel, but she's glad that, evil though she is, she at least has some standards that are higher than such a thing.

#16 - Womb: One day, she knows, she'll emerge from the Vault, like an infant leaving a womb; but whether her emergence will be to create new chaos, or else to make the Doctor proud, only time will tell.

#17 - Burn: She promised the Doctor that she'd turn over a new leaf, that she'd do her best to be good, instead of evil; but that bridge is so hard to burn behind her.

#21 - Statue: Stuck in the Vault, Missy feels almost like a living statue: Trapped perpetually in one place, with the same scenery all around; it's monotonous and aggravating.

#23 - Wine: Other peoples' suffering is like a fine, vintage wine that she savors eagerly.

#24 - Reflection: She's always viewed herself as the Doctor's reflection, cast in a cracked and darkened mirror; they're more alike than he might care to admit, but she's willing to embrace that fact.

#25 - Take: Missy could pity the Doctor, for being so determined to give, give, give; it's much simpler, and infinitely more fun, to take.

#26 - Magic: When her past self reveals himself beneath his disguise, Missy feels an odd terror that she's never faced before; and the temptation to slip back into her evil ways, after resisting the urge for so long, feels like an irresistible black magic spell that's being cast on her.

#27 - Fragment: To hurt the Doctor is always a source of delight; Missy relishes taking both of his hearts, and shattering them into fragments.

#28 - Cats and Dogs: They've fought like cats and dogs for centuries, Missy and the Doctor, across plenty of lifetimes; but she knows that he feels as she does: That, beneath the enmity, they'll always remain friends.

#31 - Rush: Missy's gratified to see Clara's dismay when the Doctor's Confession Dial rejects her; what an ego the little human has, to rush to the conclusion that she'd be trusted with the device, instead of someone who knows him as well as Missy always has.

#32 - Jester: She wishes that the Doctor would visit her more often, inside the Vault, rather than talking to--or, rather, at--her from outside; even if he acted like a king, and expected her to be little more than his captive jester, Missy would still be grateful for the visit.

#33 - Haven: For all that she's within its confines, Missy sees the Vault that imprisons her as the universe's haven, or else she strongly suspects that the Doctor views it that way: As long as she's inside it, that's one less threat to all of life within the continuum.

#34 - Dusk: This playing around with her previous self has been fun enough; but it's time to turn his blaze into dusk; though Missy's tried to survive so many times, she knows that she must be the one to end this particular one of her numerous lives.

#35 - Chord: She feels like the Lost Chord, tucked away like this in the Vault; she could almost curse herself for volunteering to change her ways, sometimes, feeling like she's missing out on all the fun she could be having if she were at liberty.

#36 - Indulgence: It's not mere indulgence, when Missy betrays her past self, to try to aid the Doctor; she's tried to long to give up being evil that she's beginning to see the value in decency

#37 - Freezer: Life is slipping away from her rapidly; Missy feels almost as though she's been locked into a freezer, as death's creeping ways slowly cool her down.

#39 - Coast: She'll never admit it to her previous life, since he has no idea that she's tried so hard, for so long, to reform; but she's merely coasting on the adrenaline that being near him creates, letting him do all the dirty work.

#41 - Morbid: Missy has often wondered how she got to this particular one of her lives, but she tries not to recall the particular death that led to it; while she enjoys causing other peoples' ends, she doesn't consider herself morbid.

#42 - Shipwreck: Perhaps she's doomed to fail in her promise to try to reform, and give up her dark deeds; Missy knows that this could end up worse than a shipwreck, but she's determined to at least make a go of goodness.

#43 - Socks: The Vault is a dull place; there's so little to keep Missy occupied that she'd willingly take up as drab a hobby as knitting socks, in order to stave off the boredom...but it's doubtful that she'd be permitted access to knitting needles.

#44 - Sand: There are times when Missy feels as though the Doctor's very existence is a line drawn in the sand; despite the friendship that lies beneath their animosity, that animosity does very much exist, almost as a provocation.

#45 - Coin: To continue to keep her word to the Doctor, or to give in to the temptation that her past self presents, poses a terrible challenge; Missy knows that such a decision is too much for a mere coin toss to resolve.

#48 - Drive: When the Doctor fails to kill Clara, trapped as the poor, pitiful human is in that Dalek casing, Missy isn't surprised; she'd almost driven him too far, far enough to do something unthinkable, so his rage is even less surprising than his unwillingness to take that step he's almost been goaded into.

#49 - Net: Missy watches in vague smugness as Clara walks away, the TARDIS phone number tucked safely away; she's set out her net to catch the Doctor, and the bait is adorable.

#50 - Destination: This is her destination: Slain by the past self that she just slew; Missy can hear her past life's laughter as the breath fades, and wonders how she ever came to this point.
