#01 - Package
Rin was wrong, very wrong, comically, hilariously, insanely wrong about Sojiro's age, he's thirty-freaking-eight, not mid forties, but in no way can she be blamed for that error and she was correct about everything else, including how he got his start in the dubious (and extremely ageing) 'art' of womanizing.
#02 - Obscure
With every date her true identity becomes both less and less, as well as more and more obscure in Shido's mind, until nothing but the gossamer wisp of a fake name separates the Rin of the present from the Rin of the past.
#03 - Skeleton
“When you die, I'll have your skeleton articulated,” says Shido to Rin, as lovingly as is possible for the black hearted tyrant, his hand roaming gently over her bumpy spine where the pair stand on a balcony at a party.
#04 - Nurse
Although she's the leader of the gang, Rin is still called upon to act as nurse for her teammates and auxiliaries whenever they fall ill, because she has so much patience and so little need to yap.
#05 - Domino
Remarkably, an out of wedlock pregnancy was an even bigger life ruiner than saving a woman from being raped, everything crumbled in a straight line, leaving just Rin and her closest friends standing.
#06 - Thaw
Rin's so called unplanned pregnancy, that do or die situation, achieved what it was supposed to, melting the last of the glacial ice that was making her beloved barista closed off and prematurely old.
#07 - Waves
“We didn't send you to Tokyo to cause even more trouble,” said her mother, once they finally caught up on the phone.
#08 - Burglar
She only steals hearts, but for some reason people store a lot of yen in their heads, and it keeps accumulating in her pockets, like sand at the beach.
#09 - Frame
Yusuke loves to frame scenes with his hands, and Rin, although inexpressive, always plays along, giving him a Mona Lisa smile.
#10 - Carpet
The first thing she does upon moving into Sojiro's house, is purchase a new carpet for the spare bedroom, a plush white fur carpet.
#11 - Insect
Bees and wasps and scary animals in general love her, and she loves to stand amongst them and allow them to prove it by not stinging, biting, or otherwise harming her, secretly pretending to be a better version of a certain Metal Gear boss.
#12 - Mentor
Rin never had any mentor, chiefly because she dominates any room she enters, but she plays the role for everyone who gets close to her.
#13 - Spirit
Spirit indomitable, will unbreakable, mind like an obsidian scalpel, body like velvet steel, soul soft and red and warm and juicy as rare steak.
#14 - Wax
She likes to test herself by letting hot wax drip on her skin, picking it off as a reward.
#15 - Trash
Not a fan of trash, junk, garbage, or accumulated shit, Rin keeps a beautifully simple, clean and clear house.
#16 - Womb
Thanks to a terrible upbringing and an evil sex education, Rin psyoped herself into believing she didn't like or want children, but meeting Sojiro exposed that falsehood, and now she employs her womb in creative pursuits as often as possible.
#17 - Burn
When a house a couple buildings down from hers goes up in flames, Rin runs in to help, earning herself a frightened telling off from Sojiro, Futaba, and every single one of her friends, as well as a Community Hero award from the government.
#18 - Flash
"Say cheese!" Rin likes to say this although she never uses a flash when taking selfies with her lovingly exasperated cherry blossom family.
#19 - Anima
"If you're not waiting for me on the other side, I'm going to hunt you down," is what Rin says to a friend or family member in her most loving moods.
#20 - Gamble
Messing around with Shido is a major gamble, the most dangerous game of chess ever played, with the goal not even visible on the board.
#21 - Statue
A master of stillness as well as disguise, Rin stands in the shadows outside the cafe and listens to the city babble, no one seeing her while she sees everyone.
#22 - Perfume
Sojiro wears it, but doesn't like his ladies to, liking how women smell naturally, so it's just as well that Rin only wore perfume during her tween ‘trying to be like the other girls’ phase.
#23 - Wine
Freaking awesome stuff, Rin likes rosé and champagne best, the one for being pink, the other for the bubbles and class.
#24 - Reflection
Mirrors and shop windows are what she calls a ‘free’ way to look around and watch people without being clocked, and she employs them whenever she can.
#25 - Take
"I'm going to steal your heart," no ideal threat from a phantom thief, although Rin needed no metaverse in order to achieve her biggest conquests.
#26 - Magic
It doesn't matter how old she gets, she's always going to be into fairies and Fairyland, although she much prefers warriors to wizards.
#27 - Fragment
Rin's probation diary lies in one of Sojiro's safety deposit boxes, along with the fabulous Taj Mahal shaped white chocolate confection she gifted him on her first Valentine's Day at his cafe.
#28 - Cats and Dogs
Eventually she becomes tired of him not understanding Morgana, so Rin, along with Futaba, drags Sojiro on a guided, safari style tour of the Metaverse.
#29 - Hum
Ryuji has an annoying habit of humming, annoying and adorable and unconscious, a habit which often causes him to wonder why his best mate is staring at him with such a psycho look on her face.
#30 - Flinch
After five years as a Sakura, she ceases to flinch at sudden touches.
#31 - Rush
Rin generally only rushes to catch flights, or to save a life, but in the case of Christmas mass she rushes to church, pram in hand, her newly converted family trotting along behind her.
#32 - Jester
Like all clowns, Rin is an extremely serious and grim person at heart, the black waves of her soul generating an endless mist of complimentary merriment.
#33 - Haven
Although both at various points have been invaded by enemies, the cafe and Sojiro's home remain havens for every member of the Sakura family.
#34 - Dusk
“This is the best balcony ever, dude, for real,” sighs Ryuji, over sundowners on the balcony of Rin and Sojiro's bedroom.
#35 - Chord
Iwai and son teach Rin how to play the electric guitar, something for which Sojiro never forgives them.
#36 - Indulgence
Iwai, a struggling man, huffs at bills, Sojiro, a wealthy man, whines about bills, while Shido, an extremely wealthy man, doesn't even glance at them when they arrive at his and Rin's table.
#37 - Freezer
Keeping one's terminally freezing hands hidden in gloves or pockets helps a great deal to keep them warm.
#38 - Passage
The slow (or sudden) passage from one kind of relationship to another is the most interesting aspect of socializing for Rin, and she most enjoys the movement from stranger to friend, or from enemy to lover.
#39 - Coast
Attending the beach with Sojiro is no different to going anywhere else with him, he dresses to impress and puts to shame all the naked hotties while only baring his ankles and less than half of his calves, making his wife swagger around with pride.
#40 - Keepsake
A combative, trauma and secret filled diary is a strange keepsake, but Rin and her favourite barista are strange people.
#41 - Morbid
Hanging around cemeteries is mandatory goth behaviour, but Futaba, Sojiro, and Iwai are the only ones who regularly attend Rin as fellow bats.
#42 - Shipwreck
Shido’s cruise ship, once so glorious, is a ghost ship when she steps on it for the final time, its bones visible through its steel skin, seaweed and barnacles surging up its sides, its anchors deployed, its body listing badly, water breaching its hulls.
#43 - Socks
"I'm not a foot fetishist, but like that you don't wear socks,” says Rin to Sojiro, apropos of nothing one day, her glittering eyes glued to his deer like ankles.
#44 - Sand
"I don't like sand, it's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere,” says Rin, to every one of her friends and family at the beach, hoping someone gets the reference.
#45 - Coin
“If you become a gambling addict, I will beat you to death...in the Metaverse,” is another one of her esoteric declarations of love.
#46 - Guile
"Wakaba was a Roman Catholic, and she had Futaba baptised, so you owe it to all of us, baby," is one of the angles she takes to get Sojiro to agree to undergo the required rites of conversion.
#47 - Eyelash
“Hold on, eyelash,” Sojiro touches a fingertip to Rin's cheek, stopping her just as she goes in for a kiss.
#48 - Drive
She continues to drive without a licence even after saving the world.
#49 - Net
“All I do in Tokyo is collect pretty specimens,” Rin giggles, while waving a butterfly net at her man shortly before going off on a bug collecting expedition.
#50 - Destination
A road trip home when Rin's stomach is bulging after an illicit affair with the much older man who was supposed to look after her, is not a joyous return, but one last chance for her parents to step up and say ‘yes, honey, we really do care, and we're sorry’.
